STUDIO PROJECTS

A sneak peek inside my world of sculpting. I have listed a few projects and will continue to post new work as it comes. Please take a moment to see the creations in their early steps. It's fascinating work and I hope you enjoy seeing how it all comes to be.

Bronze Planters

This project began with the volunteers of Generous Gardeners. A group who grace our community, year after year with their drive and passion to keep Gloucester in bloom!

Late in 2022, they came to me with the idea of “Something for the boulevard for Gloucester’s 400th year”. It needed to be something to celebrate how the sea has become so integrated with the community over so many generations. The location for this new art would be around the Fishermen’s statue on Stacy Boulevard in Gloucester, Massachusetts.

To continue the support for the current statue known as the “Man at the Wheel”, we designed what could be considered an accessory to the existing theme. These “Fish Baskets” hold the treasures of the sea, capturing a moment of “A day in the life of the Gloucester fisherman.”

A project that took almost a year to complete and each one is filled with different treasures. Inviting visitors to the boulevard to spend time in the space and reflect. In this way, we can all feel a connection to what happens offshore.

It's been fun working with Generous Gardeners and an honor to be adding to the City of Gloucester in this historic way.

A Journey Together

Mermaid and Dolphin sculpture commissioned by a couple for their waterfront home. This piece represents their journey together. With a passion for shaping metal, forming delicate features of the mermaid’s face and hands was a labor of love. As a sculptor, it was important to me to create a composition that brings both pieces together in a flowing way. When I look at this work I like to see the shapes relate to each other. Success is when your focus continues to wander throughout the entire sculpture as one fluid motion.

DRAGON AT THE CONVENTION CENTER

A symbol of deliberate strength, this dragon sculpture will keep watch over the BCEC Garden in South Boston. Greeting the guests of the garden with proud confidence.  For generations, the “Dragon on D” sculpture will inspire our youth and provide a place for reflection for those who’ve seen the years go by.  Such a fun discovery to find while out for the day.  He will command pause if just for a moment.

This sculpture was created in forged bronze and detailed with varying textures.  The total approximate height is 18’, with a 20’ wingspan.  Very excited to have created this wonderful beast for the MCAA.

BAIT BALL

Suspended in a stairwell moving with the currents of the day. Glass fish wrapped in bronze swim together in a circular school forming what is known as a bait ball. Measuring 8’ tall and 5’ wide, this piece floating in space has a delicate feel, yet it’s teaming with energy.

OSPREY

The Osprey, known for its unique hunting style dives right into the water to catch fish. This piece, commissioned for a New England couple will live in a natural environment. The osprey made in bronze is forged and hammered using black smithing techniques. This iconic gesture is perched 10’ high at the top of a granite base. The osprey has a wing span of 6’. We hope you enjoy seeing the process.

ARRIVAL: Splashdown at the Hampton Inn

The visitors to South Boston’s Hampton Inn will feel welcomed when they’re greeted with creativity standing 18’ tall. This newly installed sculpture symbolizes their journey and their “Arrival” to the city of Boston.

Arrival” A giant anchor made of solid cast glass is surrounded with the swirling energy of ocean waves created in formed bronze with a blue patina finish reaching upward like a giant water splash. The anchor lit from within creates an inner glow that fills the forms with light and invites a closer look. We are very excited to have created something for public curiosity. Hoping to build the excitement of coming to Boston to explore.

BEAR - Bridgewater State University

Bristaco the Bridgewater Bear is complete!

The bear that was roaming about in the studio is now complete and at its rightful place at Bridgewater State University. The Bear is made of bronze shards cut and twisted and the granite quarried from Cape Ann.
The Bridgewater State University wants its pride to be known. Commissioned in 2020 this piece is a focal point for students and alumni for years to come. So many ways to remember where we’ve come from.  This one stands for pride and endurance.

It’s been a pleasure to work with Bridgewater on Bristaco the bear.  Thank you to all that had the faith in me to capture Bristaco.
